Web sites you can update yourself
Everything you see on all of these bizipub web pages was produced using "cloud computing" software which is available for free on the internet. In other words, if you knew how to use the tools, and you had the time to do-it-yourself, you could have made them on your own. Most people, however, don't have the time to learn every whiz-bang internet tool out there. That's where bizipub comes in. We learn the new stuff so you don't have to. We deliver to you top quality web services which we can update, or you can update yourself.
What's internet publishing?
It means putting documents on web sites. Companies have been printing stuff on fancy paper for years. Now they are putting the same information on web sites. Take your company brochure for example. You could spend thousands printing leaflets that customers might just lose or throw away. But online brochures are always in the same place and always up-to-date. If you need a paper copy, just print one. Of course, you can publish online all kinds of documents, not just brochures.
What's cloud computing?
It means using programs on web sites. Ever had trouble installing software on your computer? Ever had to buy new software after buying a new computer? With cloud computing there is no installation. You go to a web site with your program on it and save your files there. Use any computer with an internet connection. Use spreadsheets, word processors, and presentation software - even develop your web site using a web site! (That's what we do.)
1. Choose your technology
There are so many technologies to choose from that the process can seem overwhelming. And the technologies change so quickly that any decision made today might be made differently tomorrow. Variety and change are just a part of the internet world. We suggest that you accept this fact and integrate it into decision-making.
We demonstrate several different technologies by building our own bizipub web site using a variety of web site building tools. Click the buttons above to make your own comparison.
2. Choose your features
Each technology (Blogger, Moonfruit, Wix, etc.) offers options that are similar, but not exactly the same. First, decide on a technology, then choose the particular features you would like to have on your web site. Click the link to download a checklist.
3. We build it, you own it
Once you have chosen your technology and features, send us whatever pictures, words, product descriptions, etc. that you may have on hand. We will build you a basic web site. After that you can make revisions, updates and upgrades at your leisure. We will always be there to help you if you prefer, but we will not be in your way if you prefer to do-it-yourself.
Just like your automobile, your web site is your property. You own it. We'll help you build it, fix it, tweak it, or give it a complete makeover when you decide you are ready.
Advantages
Accessibility - returning phone calls
Probably the number one reason our customers prefer us to other services is accessibility. Part of that is simply returning phone calls. We wish we could answer every call 24 hours per day like the big companies. But what we lack in round-the-clock work hours we make up for in face-to-face service. We're not an international call center. We're a local business. But we do return our phone calls within 24 hours, and we even make house calls.
Speed - delivering quick results
We deliver complete 5-page brochure-style web sites for $1000 in two weeks. We know of no other service that delivers results this quickly.
When the end result is clearly understood and agreed upon by both the customer and the developer, the result can come quickly. We ensure clear communication by using fill-in-the-blanks web site specification forms.
Quality - publishing beautiful sites
What makes a good web site? The answer varies from person to person and from time to time. We strive to build the best web site for a given customer at a given time for a given price.
Included in our quality product is the capability to change and upgrade. We believe that maintaining flexibility and upgradeability is a critical component of web site quality.
Upgradeability - keeping sites current
Because the sites we build allow you to do your own updates, you can achieve a low-cost current-looking site just by using what we deliver initially.
But if you want to enjoy the very newest web features, you can always hire us later to do an upgrade or add-on. If you've heard of it, we can do it for you, and at a price lower than any you will likely find elsewhere.
Variety - offering a range of sites
Different people prefer different appearances for their web sites. To accomodate customers, most companies offer a variety of templates and color schemes. Well, we offer that plus a variety of technologies.
Check out the links above for Blogger, Moonfruit, Wix, etc. You can see not only different templates but different development environments.
Training - helping customers use sites
We provide local training seminars which are free for our customers. We also make house calls and demonstrate our sites right in homes or offices.
Other types of computer support
We often get requests for other types of computer support. While this is not our core business, we can often work out a case-by-case arrangement.
Options

See before you pay
Ever heard of a computer company that shows you some results before you pay? Well, bizipub does just that. Here at bizipub, we don't charge a penny until you're satisfied with the results.
Flexible pricing - Pay only for what you want.
No maintenance fees
Unlike other internet publishers, bizipub charges no maintenance fees for brochure-style sites. bizipub updates your site for FREE for one year. We'll even do it for more than a year, if you want, though none of our customers has ever needed it.
Jump starting your "content"
Sometimes customers want a web site but they don't exactly know what they want to put on it. We cannot choose your words and pictures for you, but we can draft a site with stock photos and generic wording which you can edit immediately or sometime down the line.
Do-it-yourself maintenance
We will maintain your brochure-style site for you for FREE if you wish, but you always have the option of updating it yourself. You don't have to depend on us techies any more! You keep control of your internet presence and use us only if you choose.
Lots of "gadgets" (aka "widgets")
Add on all kinds of web features, most for no extra charge. These include event calendars, photo albums and slideshows, videos, RSS and news feeds, animations, contact-us forms, maps, blogs, forums, PayPal buttons and e-commerce features. Below are examples of widgets provided for free by Google Blogger (the tool used to make this web site).
Get online
Welcome to bizipub! If you want your web site, photos, videos, brochure or other publication online, then you've come to the right place. We publish whatever you want on the internet for $200 per web page. You can update the pages yourself or have us do it for you for no additional costs for up to one year! That's right, there are no maintenance fees!
Printing a brochure on paper can cost thousands of dollars, depending how many copies you buy. And you can't change a brochure after it's printed. But online brochures can be printed only when you need them. This saves a lot of up-front costs. And it saves cost of re-printing or wasting unused brochures!
And have you ever seen online videos, slideshows, PowerPoint presentations? Have you ever wondered how to put them online? Well now you don't have to wonder. We'll take care of it for you!

Why use bizipub?
bizipub is the only web site company that offers all of the following.
- Pay-as-you-go, page-by-page pricing. Most web development companies charge you an up-front set-up fee and they have a minimum dollar order. For example, Network Solutions charges $1,399 for a 5-page site. With Bizipub you can buy one page at a time at $200 apiece.
- See-before-you-pay delivery. Most web development companies make you pay before you see any results. So you don't know if what they make is really what you like. Bizipub makes you a sample before you pay anything.
- No maintenance fees. Unlike other services, we do not charge for maintenance for brochure sites. So you're not stuck with more bills after you already paid for your web site.
- Self-updateable sites. We update your site for free, but if you prefer to do-it-yourself, you can log in to the site and add, update and delete words and pictures yourself, 24-hours-a-day!
How bizipub! works
You pay nothing until you see some results.
If not, you pay nothing and we remove the site.
- First, tell us the basic idea for your web site.
- Next, describe how you want it to look.
- Then, we will build you a working example web site that you can see on the Internet.
If not, you pay nothing and we remove the site.
Internet publishing is similar to printing
If you've ever printed a paper brochure, you know the steps:
- You get an idea.
- You write it down.
- You edit it.
- When it’s finally done, you send it to a printer.
- Once it’s printed, you can’t change it.
- You get an idea.
- You sketch it out.
- You tweak it.
- When it’s finally done, you publish it to the Internet.
- But after it's published, you can and should update it on a continuing basis.
Of course, paper brochures are handy because you don't need a computer to show them. However, online brochures have other advantages:
- People don't throw them away.
- People can find them later if they need them.
- People all over the world can find them by searching (googling) the Internet.
- And if you need a paper copy, you can always print the most recent version.
Case Study: Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce Publishes Web Site in Less than a Week!
On Friday, June 6, 2008, Bruce Winchell and I visited Jill Thieme at the Cass River Yacht Club. Since at least 2006, Bruce had been eager to implement a fully-functional web site for the Bridgeport Area Chamber of Commerce. Without Jill's approval, this would be impossible, so Bruce arranged my introduction.
I talked excitedly to Jill about the prospect of a new web site, but Jill remained aloof. It appeared to me that she had heard such talk before. It occurred to me that if I proved myself before she made a decision, perhaps the decision would be easier to make.
"Why don't I just build your web site for you before you buy," I suggested. "If you like it you can buy it, if not, then no hard feelings."
She paused.
"I'll make you a functional site by your Chamber meeting on Tuesday," I said.
Jill seemed skeptical that it could be done so quickly.
Well, it really is possible to create a web site in a day or two, if you know what you're doing. Bruce provided me with digital photos, and I gathered information about the Bridgeport community from the Census Bureau and other sources. Within about twelve hours of development work on Friday and Saturday, the demonstration site was complete.
I presented the site at the Chamber meeting on Tuesday, June 10. It was approved that very day. You can see the results at www.bridgeportchambermi.org.
